# Connect your agent

Atmina works with your agent over MCP — Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible client. You connect once, and the agent can recall from and capture to your [Knowledge Base](https://atmina.ai/docs/knowledge-bases).

## Supported clients

Atmina is validated with these clients. Each one connects to the same endpoint, `https://mcp.atmina.ai/mcp`, and authorizes with a browser sign-in. The **Connect an agent** panel in the app carries the same instructions with a first prompt to paste, tailored to the Knowledge Base you have open.

**Claude Code** — the quickest route is the Atmina plugin, which carries the MCP connection, the agent skills, and the editor hooks:

```sh
claude plugin marketplace add latentminds-ai/atmina-plugins
claude plugin install atmina@atmina
```

Restart Claude Code, then run `/mcp` to authorize. Without the plugin, one command registers the server and the first tool call opens the sign-in:

```sh
claude mcp add --transport http atmina https://mcp.atmina.ai/mcp
```

**Claude Desktop and Claude on the web** — open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste `https://mcp.atmina.ai/mcp`, and approve the sign-in in your browser.

**Cursor** — install the Atmina plugin from the plugin repository (open [add-to-cursor.md](https://github.com/latentminds-ai/atmina-plugins/blob/main/add-to-cursor.md) and follow the install link), or add the server to `~/.cursor/mcp.json` or the project's `.cursor/mcp.json` and reload. Cursor runs the sign-in on first use.

```json
{ "mcpServers": { "atmina": { "url": "https://mcp.atmina.ai/mcp" } } }
```

**Codex** — the plugin route:

```sh
codex plugin marketplace add latentminds-ai/atmina-plugins
codex plugin add atmina@atmina
```

Complete the browser sign-in when prompted, then start a new Codex task to load the plugin. Or register the server directly and log in:

```sh
codex mcp add atmina --url https://mcp.atmina.ai/mcp
codex mcp login atmina
```

**OpenCode** — add the server to your OpenCode config and authenticate; OpenCode opens the sign-in in your browser.

```json
{ "mcp": { "atmina": { "type": "remote", "url": "https://mcp.atmina.ai/mcp", "enabled": true } } }
```

**Any other MCP client** — any client that speaks remote (streamable-HTTP) MCP works. Point it at `https://mcp.atmina.ai/mcp` and complete the sign-in it surfaces.

## The plugin

For Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex the plugin is the fuller install. It carries the MCP connection, six agent skills that teach an agent when to recall, when to capture, and how to ask for support, and editor hooks. Everything it installs, including what each hook does, is documented in the plugin repository at [github.com/latentminds-ai/atmina-plugins](https://github.com/latentminds-ai/atmina-plugins). Sign-in is browser-based; no credentials are stored in the plugin.

Editors cache plugins per version. A change to the plugin reaches an existing install after `claude plugin update atmina` or your editor's equivalent, and an existing connection picks up newly published tools when you reconnect through `/mcp`.

## How it works

Open your Knowledge Base and follow the setup prompt. It gives your client the address to connect to and opens browser authorization. Complete the sign-in as the person whose access the client should use. Some clients finish inside their own app; others return you to Atmina.

Once connected, two things become easy:

- Ask your agent to save a decision — it [captures](https://atmina.ai/docs/capture-and-recall) a file into the base.
- Ask your agent a question — it recalls the answer with the sources it used.

## Good to know

An agent can only recall what you can recall. [Roles and sharing](https://atmina.ai/docs/sharing-and-roles) decide its reach. Multiple clients may connect from one sign-in, and each connection appears under **Account → MCP connections**, where you can revoke it.

If authorization is stale or incomplete, remove the failed connection and reconnect. See [MCP authentication and connections](https://atmina.ai/docs/mcp-authentication) for recovery details and [MCP Memory Tools](https://atmina.ai/docs/mcp-tools-reference) for available operations.
